Breaking the cycle of recidivism through health and wellness.
At The Wallace Way, we believe everyone deserves a second chance to build a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of incarceration by providing safe, structured transitional housing and comprehensive wellness support. At the core of our values is a belief in peer-led support and the power of lived experience. Our mission is to help system-impacted residents (SIRs) successfully reintegrate into the community, fostering safer neighborhoods and creating positive, lasting change.
More Than a House—A Foundation for a New Beginning
Successful reentry starts with stability and holistic support. The correctional system alone cannot provide the comprehensive care needed for long-term success. The Wallace Way bridges that gap. We offer more than just shelter; we provide a stable environment where SIRs can rebuild their lives, focusing on their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
Our approach is rooted in the understanding that sustained wellness is the fundamental key to successful reentry and a safer community for all.

"Sustained wellness is the key to successful reentry and safer neighborhoods."

How We Empower Lasting Change
Structured & Supportive Housing
We establish a stable and supportive living environment with clear and consistent house rules that promote positive change and healthy habits.
Holistic Wellness Programs
Our interventions are built around five pillars of health: emotional, social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual wellness. This includes mindfulness, stress management, physical fitness, and nutritional guidance.
Essential Life & Job Skills
We require engagement in workshops designed to enhance job readiness, financial literacy, and other essential life skills. We provide active support in securing sustainable employment by partnering with second-chance employers.
Clinical Support & Mentorship
We provide individual and group counseling, including specialized therapy for those who have committed sex offenses and drug abuse. We also facilitate mentorship opportunities with positive role models to guide residents on their path.
A Commitment to Community Safety & Transparency
We understand that building trust is paramount. The Wallace Way is committed to being a positive, respectful, and accountable neighbor. Our comprehensive safety plan is designed to ensure the well-being of the residents in our program, our staff, and the surrounding community.
Good Neighbor Policy
Every system impacted resident must sign and adhere to a strict conduct agreement that includes zero tolerance for harassment, loitering, or public disturbances.
24/7 Monitoring and Staffing
Our properties feature 24/7 off-site camera surveillance, on-site staff during business hours, a live-in Resident Associate for after-hours support, and full, unannounced access for parole officers.
Full Transparency and Collaboration
We work in full collaboration with the Illinois Department of Corrections and local public safety departments. We provide a dedicated community hotline for concerns and feedback and hold quarterly neighborhood meetings.
